Early morning flight from Lima to Chiclayo, followed by a visit to Huaca Rajada (Cracked Pyramid), the site of the 1987 discovery of the Tomb of Sipán and major finds from the pre-Inca Moche culture (c. 1,500 years ago). Drive through the Reque Valley to Sipán, where a site museum and reconstructed tombs showcase Moche pottery, goldwork, and ritual burials.
Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum
After lunch in Lambayeque, visit the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum, built in the style of a Moche pyramid and housing artifacts from the excavation.
Túcume
Continue to the dry forest of Túcume to explore pyramids built by the Sicán culture, including one of the world’s longest adobe structures (over 700 m / 2,300 ft). Great view from a platform over the dry forest of Leche Valley that shows several adobe pyramids. Visit to a small site museum. Return to Chiclayo for overnight stay. (L)
El Brujo Archaeological Complex
