Cusco - Puerto Maldonado - Tambopata National Reserve

Flight to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the Tambopata River port for the boat journey to Sachavacayoc Lodge. Along the way, we pass river beaches, cliffs, and rainforest rich in birdlife, with chances to see toucans, aracaris, parrots, macaws, herons, raptors, and other Amazon species. Around the lodge, we may also spot monkeys and other rainforest mammals.

Sachavacayoc Lodge

After dinner, we explore nearby trails to look for nocturnal birds and wildlife. Night at Sachavacayoc Lodge. (B, L, D)

Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick

Early departure to the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick for excellent views of parrots and large macaws, with breakfast served during the activity.

Condenado Oxbow Lake

Later, we travel down the Tambopata River and hike to Condenado Oxbow Lake to look for more riverside and rainforest birds, including herons, storks, kingfishers, rails, raptors, orioles, jays, and other species.

Return to Sachavacayoc Lodge

Return to Sachavacayoc Lodge, with another chance for night birding after dinner. (B, L, D)

Sachavacayoc - Puerto Maldonado

Breakfast at the lodge while enjoying the morning sounds of the rainforest. We then return along the Tambopata River to Puerto Maldonado for the transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco or Lima. (B)
