Cusco
Upon arrival in the ancient Inca capital, transfer to the hotel and welcome coca tea to help with acclimatization at 3,400 meters.
Cusco Walking Tour
In the afternoon, we take a walking tour of the main Plaza and nearby streets to get a sense of Cusco’s Inca layout, palaces, and surviving remains. Overnight in Cusco.
Sacred Valley of the Incas
After breakfast, we begin our excursion to the Sacred Valley, known for its beautiful landscapes and mild climate. We descend to Pisaq (2,800 m) to visit its traditional market and archaeological site.
Urubamba & Ollantaytambo
After lunch in Urubamba, we continue to Ollantaytambo, a former agricultural, military, and religious center with some of the finest Inca architecture and the best-preserved living Inca town. Overnight in Ollantaytambo. (B, L)
Inca Trail
Pick up from the hotel and transfer to the train station for Km 104, where the 2-day/1-night Inca Trail begins. We ascend gradually to Wiñayhuayna through cloud forest, enjoying views of the Urubamba Canyon and one of the trail’s most beautiful small Inca citadels.
Inti Punku & Machu Picchu
After a box lunch, we continue along the Inca Trail to Inti Punku, where we enjoy stunning views of Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, and the surrounding cloud forest. We then descend to Machu Picchu, exit the citadel, and take the bus to Aguas Calientes for the night. (B, Box Lunch)
Machu Picchu
We take the first bus to Machu Picchu for a 3-hour guided tour. There is also time for photographs and to continue enjoying the citadel and its surrounding views. If Huayna Picchu has been booked in advance, you may climb it independently.
Return to Cusco
Later, we return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where lunch is on your own, then continue by train to Ollantaytambo and by car to Cusco. (B)
Moray
Pick up from the hotel for transfer to Moray, with views of the snowcapped Chicon and Veronica mountains along the way. We visit the Inca agricultural terraces of Moray, a series of concentric circular rings descending 150 meters.
Salineras
The tour continues to Salineras, known for its 3,000 small salt pools, where the guide explains traditional salt extraction and the daily life of local workers. Return to Cusco at approximately 14:00. (B)
